Hi, I'm looking into buying an iphone, and am wondering how accessible the gps is. I've done research on various types of gps, and can't find much info about which ones are good and which ones aren't. I am hoping to find a good phone with gps capability, as I really need one for travel in a new area of town. Thanks.
the gps on the iPhone is pretty good. the maps apps taht comes on the phone is accessible and very useful, also there are free apps like mapquest for mobile and paid apps like navigone that people on here seem to like. check out the accessible devices board for more iPhone conversation and app suggestions.
thanks a lot man.
The one from AT&T is accessible as well.
They also have an $80 app called mobile navigator that's accessible. But that's only if you're willing to spend $80 on that. lol
jailbreak
jailbreak? waht does JailBreaking your iPhone have anything to do with this? unless of course are reccomending jail breaking so one can get illegal versions of the aformentioned apps for free, then i'd have to point out the inhearant security risk that comes with jail breaking your phone and getting apps from an un varified un trustworthy source which could lead to all kinds of personal information theft and etc. Though that is worst case senario. More likely to happen is taht something to caus th e phone to run slower or not work correctly or etc thus ruining the user experience. While i wont opposed jail breaking for the more tech savvy geeky crowd who is better equipped to figure out what's going on and more likely to have and idea of how to fix it. but i wouldn't reccommend it for a novice or non tech savvy person. Not to mention the fact that if they aren't care ful and update the phones OS with an apple released update and bricks the phone. And apple wont be able to help you as you violated the warranty by jail breaking the phone. That being said navigone is probably your less expensive option as it has reginonal maps for $17 or so and the entire us for $50.
how good is navigon though, I mean I've used blind-specific devices before (trekkers and whatnot), but if this is going to cost me money I need to know if it actually works right. The maps ap is kinda useful, but i find it to be hard to use for actually getting dirrections while walking.
voxtrek 2.99 does what you need.
